Environment Artist
Racing Games
We’re looking for an experienced Environment Artist with a background in racing games to join our small team working on Wreckreation 2, an open-world arcade racing game.
The UK has a rich history of making racing games. We’re hoping to tap into that wealth of experience and find someone who knows first-hand what makes a great racing environment, not just how it looks, but how it feels to drive through at 150mph.
We’re building a detailed, believable world designed for high-speed racing, aggressive driving and spectacular crashes. We need someone who can get hands-on straight away, take ownership of areas of the world and work closely with our art, design and engineering team.
What we’re looking for
- Experience working on racing games, ideally involving open-world or urban environments.
- Strong hands-on environment art skills, particularly modelling, texturing and building detailed, realistic environments.
- Experience working in Unreal Engine.
- An understanding of what makes environments work for racing, including road layouts, visibility, composition and readability at speed.
- Experience creating and optimising environments for real-time performance.
- Someone comfortable taking ownership of their work and solving problems independently as part of a small team.
We’re a small, experienced team working towards release, so we need someone who can contribute immediately.
What we offer
Initially, this would be a six-month contract position, with the opportunity to move into a permanent, full-time role.
A permanent position would come with our full employee benefits package, including:
- Flexible working hours
- 25 days’ annual leave, plus bank holidays
- Company pension
- Private healthcare
You’ll be joining a small, experienced team where you’ll have real ownership of your work and a direct influence on the game we’re making.
Interested?
Send us your CV, portfolio and a little about your racing game experience. We’d particularly like to see examples of environments you’ve personally built, and understand which parts of the work you were responsible for.
